About Tashkent State Medical University

Tashkent State Medical University, also known as Tashkent Medical Academy, is the leading medical university in Uzbekistan. It was formally founded on 24 February 2005, with roots tracing back to a Faculty of Medicine established at Turkestan State University in 1920. The university has accepted foreign students since 1961, giving it one of the longest track records of international medical education in Central Asia.

Located in Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s capital, the university offers the most developed campus infrastructure and easiest connectivity of any medical university in the country. Direct flights from major Indian cities take roughly 2.5–3 hours, among the shortest of any MBBS-abroad destination. The university has built a substantial international community, including an established Indian student population of 500 or more.

Students benefit from Tashkent’s status as Uzbekistan’s largest and most developed city, with a warm, dry climate that offers a genuine change from the long winters of many other MBBS-abroad destinations.
