About Tashkent State Medical University

Tashkent State Medical University (TSMU) was established in 2025 through the merger of three of Uzbekistan’s oldest medical institutions: Tashkent Medical Academy, Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute, and Tashkent State Dental Institute, ushering in a new, unified era of medical education in the country. Together, the merged institutions carry a combined legacy of medical teaching in Tashkent dating back more than six decades.

Located in Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s capital, the university offers the most developed campus infrastructure and easiest connectivity of any medical university in the country. Direct flights from major Indian cities take roughly 2.5-3 hours, among the shortest of any MBBS-abroad destination. The university has built a substantial international community, including an established Indian student population of 500 or more.

Students benefit from Tashkent’s status as Uzbekistan’s largest and most developed city, with a warm, dry climate that offers a genuine change from the long winters of many other MBBS-abroad destinations.
